A Belgian animated short about toxic friendships.
The theme is addressed in a fairly detached way, in a series of scenes strung together by a loose narrative thread. There is no explicit moral to the story, no coming of age. Yet this critique of toxic teenage friendships is effective in its simplicity.
I liked the animation and score/sounds (realistic recordings of e.g. glass breaking contrasting with the art style). The 1:1 aspect ratio is interesting but used less creatively here than in Merlot by Giulia Martinelli.
Easter Eggs is streaming on MUBI.
